The army is not usually a place to celebrate rock´n´roll and creativity. However, it was during National Service that Hanno met Sebastian and the two music enthusiasts decided to do what they do best after "we´d gone through this".
This happens in 2003. A year later they play their first public gigs. With a rapidly growing crowd they go on and sell out the Coffy Club, one of Düsseldorf´s most famous live venues and find the appropriate musical reinforcement in Mani who joins the band.
In January 2006 the Cast record their EP Beat Campaign. This release lays the foundation for a very successful year that starts with several live appearances in the western part of Germany. The lads then appear on a German breakfast TV show and are hailed by West Germany´s biggest radion station EinsLive as a band "that absolutely deserves a deal but somehow has not got one yet" .

Apart from special support appearances for signed UK bands they play a very successful UK tour towards the end of the year. Playing headline slots in the Roadhouse in Manchester and the Zanzibar Club in Liverpool, the Cast manage to entertain crowds in some of the most famous venues the UK has to offer.

In 2007 they enter the studio with new ideas and songs. The result makes them release In The Haze, a four-track demo EP that contains the ballad In My Arms,
the folky Our Woods and In Style besides the smashing title track - all put together in wonderful sleeve artwork designed by a friend who´s a professional
photographer.
These new tunes help the Cast to extend the number of followers and listeners and go successfully on tour with Paul Weller´s favourite band Dogs. What else? Lots of shows on their own to spread the word, a support show for UK´s indie newcomers The Race and a Perfect Ballroom Cast christmas show in a literally packed venue with one of the best aftershow DJs you could ask for - famous Frank Popp.
